WHAT IS SUGARING

Sugaring hair removal is a natural, vegan and hypoallergenic alternative to waxing. Sugaring is done with a natural paste derived of sugar, lemon, and water that removes unwanted hair and exfoliates the skin.

IS SUGARING SAFE + SANITARY?

Sugaring is safe and effec/ve for all ethnici/es, hair types and hair textures head-to-toe. Sugaring paste is an/-bacterial and environmentally friendly.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SUGARING VS WAXING?

Most notably, Sugaring hair removal benefits are ZERO skin burning and ZERO liDing of living skin cells; which greatly decreases the chances of irritation, itching and other discomfort — causing skin related inflammatory conditions. Additionally, Sugaring hair removal benefits include:

  • Smooth skin, brighter complexion

  • DOES NOT cause hair to return darker or coarser

  • Reduces follicular tension (a major cause of ingrown hair and folliculitus)

IS SUGARING PAINFUL?

While Sugaring is not painless, sugaring provides significantly less discomfort than other epilatory methods as it is gently warmed, never hot. Additionally, clients experience little to no down time due to skin sensitivity as sugar past adheres only to dead skin cells; leaving your living skin healthy, soft and smooth.

IS SUGARING SAFE DURING MENSTRUATION?

Your body. Your choice.

Yes, you CAN sugar safely during menstruation. Every Skin Alchemy 22 skin care therapist is trained to provide you the most comfortable and dignified care – always. So long as a tampon or menstrual cup can be comfortably worn during service, you are welcome to keep scheduled appointments.

CAN PREGNANT PERSONS BE SUGARED?

YES, pregnant clients can receive Sugaring hair removal at SA22!

We’ll be with you every step of the way! Sugaring paste ingredients and in-service products are non- toxic, vegetarian (most are vegan) and bio-degradable — making it safe for parent and baby.

CAN SUGARING HAIRE REMOVAL PERMANENTLY REMOVE HAIR?

Sugaring hair removal is a semi-permanent hair removal method. With consistent sugaring appointments every 4 to 6 weeks, clients DO see a reduc/on of in AMOUNT of hair regrowth, LESSENING in the frequency of appointments + coarseness of hair texture and MORE.

ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS FOR SUGARING?

No, clients of all ages are welcome! For minors, we recommend children be at least 12 years of age. Parents and legal guardian presence is required for all clients 17 years or younger. Parent or guardian signature will be required at time of service for minors.

*some SA22 services may require clients be 18 years or older.

CAN BROWS AND FACES BE SUGARED?

YES! Brows, faces and special places are all able to receive Sugaring hair removal. Brow clients can expect sleek, face-flattering brows with minimal to no irritation. For NEW FULL FACE clients, we recommend booking a FREE consultation with SA22 prior to booking services, here.

WHO SHOULD NOT RECEIVE SUGARING HAIR REMOVAL?

Sugaring hair removal is safe for all ethnicities, skin and hair types (YES, EVEN ACENEIC SKIN); however, here’s a list of common conditions and products that should be noted/avoided prior to booking your service. Still have questions, contact us!

  • Eczema + Psoriasis + Other Acneic Conditions:

    • YES, schedule your appointment. WE CAN HELP!

  • ACCUTANE (or other ORAL Retinoic acids):

    • Must be discontinued for a minimum of 6 months to sugar any area of the body.

  • Retin – A (or other PRESCRIBED topical retenoic acids):

    • Must be discontinued for a minimum of 30 days* before sugaring services.

    • *Any area of body where topical Retin–A is not applied may be sugared as desired/scheduled.

  • Sunburn + Tanning:

    • -Visible skin peeling and burns must be fully healed prior to sugaring services.

    • *Please note that the health of your skin is our priority, Skin Alchemy 22 skin care therapists reserve the right to not sugar areas where skin may be compromised. We’ll happily collaborate with any client to provide education and product recommendations to get skin “sugar ready”.
